What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy includes exercises, education of patients, joint mobilization or manipulation, electrical modalities, localized soft tissue massage and other therapeutic techniques that are specific to the patient’s needs.

Do Physiotherapists at Restore Movement have Post Graduate Qualifications?

Yes, obtained at Melbourne’s tertiary institutions.

What range of experience do Restore’s Physiotherapists bring to the table?

We have Physiotherapists with clinical experience ranging from 37 years through to 15,14,11 and 10. All with post graduate qualifications and Private Practice experience as well.

What can Physiotherapy help?

We are trained to treat sprains, fractures, strains, joint reconstruction or replacement, sports, occupational or motor vehicle trauma. We treat many people following surgery of their limbs to restore movement and function. Others see us for advice on Posture, muscle imbalance and Sports technique.

What happens at a Treatment session?

The Physiotherapist will greet you and then take a thorough history. The injury will be assessed as well as other areas that may be contributing to your pain. A diagnosis will be given, appropriate treatment given and a plan for recovery and independence. Treatment may involve heat application, ultrasound, specific exercises, mobilization, strapping and plenty of advice, having found the cause of your problems.

How long does a treatment take?

All sessions are 30 minutes long and our Physiotherapists treat ONE patient at a time.

What do I bring to an appointment?

Referrals from a Doctor are not necessary but if you have a referral letter of any sort, please bring it with you. Bring any relevant x-rays, scans and reports about your injury. If you have a running injury, bring your runners.

What are the terms of payment?

Payment is required at the time of consultation in the form of cash or credit card. We do not take American Express or Diners Club, however.

With our Hicaps system you will receive immediate refunds from your Private Health fund and therefore only pay the Gap fee.

Do you have a cancellation fee policy?

Yes, we require 24 hours notice if possible, otherwise a $50 fee will be applied. Obviously, we take emergency cancellations into account but your absence at short notice prevents other people in pain from attending. Please let us know ASAP if you cannot attend.

Does Medicare cover Restore Movement services?

Yes, through the EPC scheme whereby your Doctor approves 5 visits per calendar year for you to see a Physiotherapist or our Podiatrist .Please speak to your Doctor regarding an EPC referral to us. Medicare will pay NOT $51.95 BUT $52.95 of your Physiotherapy fee at each visit.

Do you have on site car parking?

Yes, we have parking as well as a handicapped spot at the rear of our building off Closter Street.

Can patients purchase products at Restore Movement?

Although not a retail outlet, we sell Cam walker boots, ice packs, neck collars, crutches, strapping tape, heel raises, Genutrain knee braces and Exercise balls.
