Restore Movement has a blend of youth and experience within its team.Its Physiotherapists have Post Graduate Qualifications as well as Honours degrees and have worked in Elite Sport,Teaching Hospitals,Private Practice and Universities. We have helped local sports clubs, schools and Medical Centres and have a special interest in AFL, soccer, golf, cricket, gaelic football, tennis, netball and basketball.More helpful information is written below for you to read.”

Steve Sandor

Steve started this Practice in 2001 at Ashwood Medical Group under the name of Lifecare Ashburton Physiotherapy.The Practice relocated in April 2011 to larger,renovated premises known now as Restore Movement.The name identifying our goal to help you get back to your best.
Steve qualified in 1977 with a Bachelors Degree from Lincoln Institute of Higher Education .He then worked at the Latrobe Valley Hospital, Moe and Sacred Heart Hospital, Moreland before becoming a partner in Sports Medicine Centres of Victoria in 1980.From 1980,he worked at Croydon,Ashwood and Prahran Sports Medicine Centres until 2005. 

Along the journey, Steve worked at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane, the World Police Games in Melbourne, multiple Melbourne Marathons ,World Badminton Championships in Melbourne and Australia A Cricket team in 1998.
Steve worked for Richmond Football Club 1979-1983 and was fortunate to be involved in their Premiership of 1980.He then worked for the Victorian Bushrangers Cricket team 1994-2002 who were victorious in 2 One day Competitions and Runners up twice in the Seffield Shield.

 

Since then, Steve has assisted Malvern City Football Club to a Premiership in 2010 and Eastern Lions FC in 2011.On the cricket side he has worked with Richmond, Camberwell, Oakleigh, Burwood, Glen Iris and Ajax Cricket Clubs[Life Member] since 1982.One of Steve’s longest commitments[33 years] has been to Syndal/Tally Ho, now called Chadstone Football Club where he is a Life Member.
Steve has been a lecturer on Sports Injuries at Lincoln Institute and been a co Author in 2 Sports Injury publications plus published an article on “Medial ligament of the knee Rehabilitation using isokinetic exercise” for the JOSPT in 1983 with Professor John Hart, Orthopaedic surgeon.

 

Steve completed the Titleist Performance Institute[TPI] Level 1 Course in Brisbane in 2016. This entitles Steve to the support of TPI and allows him to provide their 16 point assessment of the body swing connection in golf.

 

In his spare time, Steve spends time with his family, walks his German Shepherd, Sarge, goes to the gym, plays golf, enjoys movies, comedy, thoroughbred breeding, public speaking and mentoring young Physiotherapists.

Victor Chang

 

Victor has recently moved to Melbourne from New Zealand where he graduated from the University of Otago in 2011. Since then he has been working exclusively in the private practice setting, working in a large Physiotherapy group in Christchurch New Zealand and another private practice group in Auckland. He has treated a variety of clients from sport or work-related injuries, post-operative rehabilitation, and general aches and pains.
Victors main beliefs of health are that health and well-being is comprised of 3 main components - physical, mental and emotional, and that exercise is the cornerstone of all of them. His main approach to rehabilitation is exercise-based and his long term vision for clients is for them to leave the clinic at a higher level of function and a renewed interest in maintaining ones own health. His philosophy is that 'one does not stop playing when they grow old, one grows old when they stop playing'. And while sometimes we may need to slow down, complete cessation of a hobbie is never ideal.Victor has recently returned from doing his OE, living in London and travelling around Europe. He has played and worked with a variety of sports and has a keen interest in martial arts and combat sports currently learning jiu-jitsu.

Matthew Chan

Bachelor of Physiotherapy 2004 (University of Melbourne)

 

Matthew has worked in Tasmania and Victoria in a wide variety of fields including Community health, Aged care and Occupational physiotherapy.He joined the Restore Movement team in 2014 and has studied with Steve Sandor to enhance his skills and knowledge. Matthew's special interests include back and neck pain, including sciatica and headaches and sports injuries.
From his work in occupational physiotherapy, he is experienced with proactive strategies to prevent back, neck and shoulder pain from bad posture and repetitive strain injuries from work.

 

He gets excited about ergonomic setup of office workstations and manual handling training to prevent lifting injuries.

 

Matthew is a strong believer of continuous learning. He has developed skills in:

  • Occupational safety
  • Ergonomic workstation setup
  • Repetitive strain injuries (Elbow, wrist, hands)
  • Workplace injuries
  • Core stabalisation training (Back, Neck)
  • Running assessments and training.

 

In his spare time, Matthew likes to cycle, swim, practice Tai Chi and swing dance. He is an avid reader of Stephen King and thought the Harry Potter books were almost as good as his love of cheese cake, which he works off by running half marathons

Rozana Grinberg

Bachelor of Physiotherapy 2002

 

Rozana Grinberg has worked at Restore Movement since 2009.She finished her Bachelor of Physiotherapy in Israel at the Tel-Aviv University in 2002.She worked in a rehabilitation Centre treating Neurological and Orthopaedic conditions. In 2005 she completed her Masters in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy at Melbourne University. In addition, Rozana is a qualified Pilates Instructor, teaching individuals and classes.
Rozana has an interest in Spinal and Musculoskeletal conditions and is qualified in the field of Dry Needling. Being a mum, she is passionate about helping women through pregnancy and post natal or pelvic floor issues. Rozana strongly believes that core strength, good posture and exercises are part of a healthy body, so she is integrating her Physiotherapy and Pilates knowledge to help her clients achieve efficient painfree movement.

Sophie Tickler

Sophie Tickler, Bachelor of Physiotherapy, Honours Melbourne University 2000

 

After qualifying in 2000 from Melbourne University, Sophie practiced Physiotherapy in a variety of settings and countries, including Australia, United Kingdom and Ireland. She worked extensively for the British Military over several years and relished

the opportunity to work in such a unique environment. Starting Restore Movement in 2008, Sophie enjoys working with patients with acute conditions, but specializes more with those requiring rehabilitation. Her goal is to help every patient Restore normal movement patterns which are stable, efficient and controlled.

 

Sophie conducts Pilates classes and One on one Pilates sessions three times per week and has completed the following post graduate courses. She also has a young daughter and Physiotherapist husband who fill her spare time.

Simon Gellie

Exercise Physiologist

 

Simon Gellie is a highly skilled and experienced exercise physiologist. He has completed a Bachelor of Science Degree, Grad. Dip. in Exercise and Sports Science, a Grad. Cert. in OHS and Ergonomics and a Dip. in Remedial Massage. Simon has a wide range of experience, having worked in the areas of sports medicine, medical clinics, sporting organisations and community health.

This includes eight years experience working with Steve Sandor at Ashwood Sports Medicine Centre. Simon specialises in:

 

• Rehabilitation and prevention of musculoskeletal pain and injuries
• Sports strength training and conditioning
• Improving health, restoring function and prevention and management of chronic diseases.

 

Every client undergoes a comprehensive assessment and an individualised exercise program is designed to meet their needs.

 

Prevention and Rehabilitation of Musculoskeletal Pain and Injury

 

You must correct the underlying causes of pain and injury to achieve long-lasting results, not simply treat the pain…. And if you fail to do this, pain will often return. Simon has achieved outstanding results with many clients suffering from pain and injury, including:

Personal Interests

 

Simon has always loved playing sports and has competed in triathlons, tennis, basketball, football, cricket, volleyball and gymnastics. He currently plays competitive tennis and enjoys road and mountain bike riding with friends. He loves having fun with his three beautiful children and enjoys cooking, camping and spending time with friends and family.

Tom Rosewarne

Podiatrist

 

After graduating from the University of South Australia in 2000, Tom went on to gain private practice experience in Bendigo and the United Kingdom. After returning to Australia, Tom began clinical work in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne at Croydon Total Footcare before joining Steve at what was then Lifecare Ashburton in 2007. Tom has a keen interest in all areas of foot health including diabetic foot management and overuse injuries of the foot and lower limb.

Cynthia Vassiliou

Podiatrist

 

Cynthia graduated from La Trobe University in 2007 and has experience working in both private podiatry practice and in community health. She enjoys working in all areas of practice including diabetic foot care, sporting injuries, children’s podiatry and nail surgery. Cynthia is also qualified in dry needling treatment for the foot and lower limb.
 

Outside of work, Cynthia is a keen runner, soccer player and is an accredited Nordic Walking Leader.

 

Cynthia prides herself in a gentle and caring approach with her patients and she is currently available for consultations on Monday.

David Vernon

David has over 20 years experience as a Remedial Massage Therapist and has trained in a variety of therapies including sports, Swedish, deep tissue & remedial massage. His treatments include: Relaxation massage to assist in reducing stress, boosting immunity and promote well-being; maintenance massage to help prevent a build-up
build-up of muscle tension, reduce postural stress & increase joint mobility; and remedial massage to help reduce pain, accelerate injury rehabilitation and restore joint mobility.

 

David has background in teaching and physical education and believes that Massage Therapy has much to teach us about ourselves. With regular massage, areas of restricted movement and muscular tension can be quickly and clearly identified. Treatment can commence immediately and strategies developed to reduce muscle tightness, strengthen weaknesses, realign joints and balance muscles.

 

Regular massage is highly effective in restoring tone and balance to muscles - the foundation of efficient movement patterns - so vital to achieving lasting good health.
